On “Morning Joe” Tuesday, co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough sighed as their producers played a montage of Hillary Clinton’s denials and FBI Director James Comey’s findings about her “careless” sharing of classified information via email during her time as Secretary of State.
“What just happened?” Scarborough asked. “Because I don’t get it. I was actually going to write a post for The Washington Post titled ‘I Don’t Get,’” but noted that yesterday morning in The National Review Jonah Goldberg beat him to it.
“It’s like your Tom Hanks in ‘Big,’ looking at this thing,” Scarborough added, “and you don’t it. I don’t get it.”
The panel discussed how Comey’s press conference was “the worst possible piece of good news” for the Clinton campaign, because although Comey recommended that no charges be brought against her, “as a matter of politics, everything he said was potentially devastating, because the Republicans can use them against her, it raises all sorts of suspicions.”
“Also,” Scarborough added, “it also proves she just didn’t tell the truth, from the beginning. We now have two candidates running for president of the United States who are completely disconnected from the truth.”
Brzezinski agreed, and said that the montage “we just showed our viewers says that for itself. I guess one just [lies] better than the other, which is depressing.”
